There have been lots of updates of both SCSI and IDE over the years. At
any time, the latest version of SCSI is typically around 30% "faster"
than the latest IDE. An old version of SCSI could be much slower than
the latest IDE. The SCSI in your A2000 was probably an old version, and
the ZorroII bus is slow. The SCSI on a Phase5 accelerator card would be
much faster.

The speed of a drive is not a single figure. For most tasks, the seek
time is more important than the rate at which data streams off the disk.
The operating system and file system have a big influence on results.
